Artist Printmaker Jess Shaw is based in the heart of the countryside bordering the North York Moors National Park.

Her work examines notions of continuity and transience in relation to the temporal human experience, in contrast to the encounter with an enduring landscape.

By re-imagining the cartography of the Moors as maps of experience over geography, she questions our relationship to place through pareidolia and emotional connection.

In a more direct way, she views the ephemeral ice-patterns formed overnight in winter, as reminders of our temporary nature and the creativity that surrounds us when we connect to the landscape through sensory observation.  .
